Recurring errands

Automate the errands you do every week or month, and keep the same trusted runners doing them.

#How recurring errands work

A recurring errand is a template that posts itself on a schedule you choose. Each occurrence is created 48 hours before its start time so runners can plan, and each one counts as a single errand against your monthly allowance.

Recurring errands are available on Household, Team and Business plans. Starter plans can post errands one at a time and can repeat a previous errand with Post again.

#Creating a schedule

Open any completed errand and choose Make recurring, or create a new one from Recurring in the sidebar. Pick a frequency, a day and a time window, and confirm the details that should repeat.

  • Frequencies: daily on weekdays, weekly, every two weeks, monthly on a set date, or monthly on a set weekday (for example, the first Friday).
  • Start and end dates: schedules can run indefinitely or stop on a date you choose.
  • Time window: choose a one-hour or two-hour arrival window, within the maximum errand duration for your plan.
  • Skip dates: mark holidays or trips so nothing posts on those days.

  - dropoff: "Home (front porch)"

#Favorite runners

After any completed errand you can mark a runner as a favorite. On Household plans and above, you can attach up to three favorite runners to a recurring errand in priority order. We offer each occurrence to your first choice for 30 minutes, then the second, then the third, and finally to all nearby runners.

#Pausing, editing and skipping

  • Skip one occurrence: open the upcoming errand and choose Skip this one. Skipped occurrences do not use an errand from your allowance.
  • Pause a schedule: pause for up to 90 days. After that, the schedule ends and needs to be recreated.
  • Edit the template: changes apply to future occurrences only. Occurrences already posted keep their original details.
  • Delete a schedule: deleting removes all occurrences that haven't yet been posted.

Because each occurrence posts 48 hours ahead, changes made inside that 48-hour window apply to the errand directly, using the standard edit rules in Posting an errand.

#Allowance and rollover

Recurring errands draw from the same monthly allowance as everything else: 12 errands on Household, 40 on Team and 120 on Business. If a schedule would push you past your allowance, the extra occurrences are billed at your plan's extra-errand price ($8 on Household, $7 on Team, $6 on Business).

Unused errands roll over for one month on monthly plans, capped at the size of your monthly allotment. On annual plans they roll over for up to three months. Rolled-over errands are used first. We recommend checking your usage in Settings, then Billing before adding a new schedule.
