Frequently asked questions
Runners handle parcel returns and pickups, pharmacy pickups, dry cleaning, grocery top-ups, key handoffs, waiting at home for deliveries or repair visits, and similar everyday tasks. If you're unsure whether something qualifies, ask us before you post.
Runners can't handle cash transactions over $200, carry out anything illegal or unsafe, move heavy furniture, or transport people or pets. Prescription pickups involving controlled substances require the recipient's photo ID at handoff, and runners will not release them without it.
You can cancel any time from Settings, then Billing, in the web app or mobile apps. Your plan stays active through the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
Unused errands roll over for one month on monthly plans, capped at the size of your monthly allotment. On annual plans, unused errands roll over for up to three months. Rolled-over errands are used first.
Every errand is covered by up to $10,000 in commercial general liability and goods-in-transit protection, active from when a runner accepts until you confirm completion. Contact support@errandmachine.com to start a claim.
Tipping is optional but appreciated. Runners keep 100% of tips, which you can add in the app any time within 48 hours after an errand is completed.
Same-day errands can be posted until 2:00 p.m. local time. Errands posted after the cutoff are scheduled for the next available window, and some cities offer extended hours.
We operate in nine metro areas: Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Austin, Seattle, Portland, Boston, Atlanta and Philadelphia. Coverage includes the core city and most surrounding suburbs, and you can check your address at signup.
Every runner passes identity verification, a national criminal background check and, where relevant, a driving-record review, plus a live onboarding session. Checks are refreshed every year.
We automatically re-offer the errand to other nearby runners and notify you immediately. If we can't complete it in your window, the errand doesn't count against your monthly allotment.
Yes. You can name a recipient, such as a family member or front-desk colleague, and share a tracking link. Runners will verify the name before completing any handoff.
Yes. We never sell personal data, runners see only what's needed to complete the errand, and location sharing ends when the errand is marked complete. Payment details are handled by a PCI-compliant processor.
